What are DApps?
Blockchain-based decentralized apps can do anything web or mobile apps can do, while maintaining privacy, keeping immutable records and bypassing middlemen.
Decentralized apps (DApps) run on distributed, immutable blockchain networks, making them impossible to censor. They can run various applications, including games, marketplaces, and DeFi lending platforms, making them deterministic and trustworthy.
Most DApps have smart contracts at their core, which are self-executing agreements with predetermined conditions, eliminating intermediaries and reducing cost and risk. These contracts are trustless, allowing anonymous parties to conduct transactions, ranging from simple transactions to complex ones.
DApps offer zero downtime, data integrity, and immutable transaction records on a blockchain, making data censorship difficult without overwhelming resources.
Smart contracts, a feature of DApps, can be written and executed privately, but their weaknesses include the inability to reverse mistakes or exploits by unscrupulous parties.
